What is an on-grid photovoltaic system?

A photovoltaic on-grid (or network) photovoltaic system is a system of electricity production that uses photovoltaic panels to produce direct current (DC) electricity that is converted to alternating current (AC) used by appliances and electrical equipment in a home or business and is connected to the public electricity network.

The system consists of the following main components:

1. Solar panels - these are used to collect solar energy and turn it into direct current (DC).

2. Inverter - it is used to convert direct current (DC) from solar panels into electricity with alternating current (AC) usable by 230VAC or 400VAC electrical equipment.

3. Measurement meter - it is used to measure the electricity produced by the photovoltaic system and exported to the public electric grid.

4. Electrical connections - these are used to connect the photovoltaic system to the public electric grid and to allow the transfer of electricity between the photovoltaic system and the public electric network.

The On-Grid photovoltaic system allows the owners of houses or business to produce their own electricity and to export it to the public electricity, which can lead to a reduction in the costs of the electricity invoice. In addition, this system can help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote a cleaner and more durable energy.

In order to ensure an efficient and reliable functioning of the system, it is important that the solar panels and the inverter be of good quality, installed in an area with adequate sun exposure and be properly dimensioned compared to the user's energy needs. It is also important that the installation and electrical connections be carried out by a qualified professional electrician to ensure that the system complies with all safety standards and regulations.
